Here at Always Elegant Bridal we always want to hear how our bride’s meet their love before saying their “I do’s”. Sara and Emmanuel officially met in high school but their story began way before that. They both grew up in the small town of Lincoln, California only one street apart (he grew up on A Street and she grew up on B Street). To make it even better, Sara’s mother owned the house across the street from where Emmanuel lived, so they always use to see each other playing outside as children. In their teen years he used to refer to her as: “Oh you were the girl who I used to see in the short frilly socks when we were kids!” They officially got together when Sara was 15 and they are now going on 11 years and have been by each other’s sides ever since! They are the best of friends who enjoy the San Francisco Giants, Harry Potter Marathons and movie quoting anytime they get.
Emmanuel proposed to Sara on her 25th birthday and everyone she knew had something to do with the surprise, whether it was coworkers getting her the day off work, to her brother having Emmanuel shoot for her heart (he literally had him shoot a target and said if you can hit this, you can marry my sister), etc. Emmanuel took Sara on the Napa Valley Wine Train and they ended at the Castello Di Amorosa Winery and they got engaged at the top of a castle; “it was perfect” said Sara. Their love has come such a long way from kids playing in the neighborhood to now living each day together “I could not imagine life without anyone else“, said Sara.

What was the most important thing for you about finding the perfect dress? Being a plus-size bride, I really wanted a dress that I could feel comfortable in and made me feel special and beautiful, like every other bride. I went in thinking I wanted specific styles but once I got in the shop, I walked out with a dress that was totally me and not what I previously saved in my head or thought I wanted. The appointment guided me to what was really best.

What was the best personal moments of your wedding day? The best personal moment of my wedding day was during our “first look.” At first I was opposed to a first look because my husband and I have been dating for almost 11 years and I wanted the first time he saw me in my dress was coming down the aisle but I was seriously mistaken. That moment we got with each other is something I will cherish forever because it was just the two of us and we got that intimate moment with just one another (and he cried like a baby) and it was extremely special.

Please share something that stood out on your wedding day? What I loved most about our wedding day was all the love and support from our family and friends. My husband is Mexican and I am Italian, so we had a large wedding with over 200 guests and every seat was taken during the ceremony and we started on time! HA

What was your inspiration for your wedding day and dress? What I wanted most on my wedding dress was lace and it had to have straps. I always envisioned a vintage inspired dress with a whimsical feeling.

Any advise to future brides?  When going dress shopping, take a small crew because the more opinions you have, the more you will lose your true vision of yourself. And when you bring less people, you can do a first look with your bridesmaids and have them see you in the dress for the first time on your wedding day with their reactions captured!
