Their love story…
Caleb and Sydney’s love story began 10 years ago in geometry class. Sydney immediately noticed the cute boy wearing a Derek Jeter bracelet and used her love of baseball to charm him. Caleb was shy and bad at math, so he was ecstatic the pretty smart girl wanted to be friends with him. Their friendship blossomed over study dates and sitting close to each other to cheat on tests *cough cough Caleb*. The two became close friends and even dated later on in high school. Ultimately their teenage relationship came to an end, but they never stopped being best friends and secretly loving each other.
After high school they kept their friendship alive by going to Giant’s games together every summer and always going to one other for relationship advice. Sydney always felt like Caleb was “the one that got away” and Caleb always liked Sydney but didn’t think anything would come of it.
In 2017 Sydney finally took a leap of faith and bought a plane ticket to Dallas in hopes to turn her best friend into her boyfriend. They both had their doubts because they lived in different states but ultimately realized their love for each other was stronger than the distance. A year later, Sydney moved from Hawaii to Texas and her and Caleb took the next step in their relationship by moving in together.
Their happy fun-loving relationship blossomed in this new stage of life and their love for each other grew stronger than they ever thought it could. They have since built a life together in Texas and become puppy parents to their sweet Riggins. On September 22, 2018 Caleb planned the surprise of a lifetime by flying Sydney’s best friend to Texas, gathering all of their friends on a beautifully decorated terrace, and proposing to Sydney. Over the past 10 years they have been through every phase of life together, and they can’t wait for their next journey of a lifetime.
What was the most important thing for you about finding the perfect dress?
I wanted to find something that was timeless! Of course I ended up with everything I said I didn’t want going into dress shopping, but I knew the second I put on my dress that it was the one. Gabby did an AMAZING job with helping me try one every style under the sun and everything that I thought I wanted while also reminding me that nothing has compared to “the Texas dress” so far.
What was the best personal moments of your wedding day?
After the ceremony Caleb and I walked away for about 10 minutes and got to take a deep breath and take it all in together away from everyone. That moment was so special because we were like OMG we’re married! LOL.
Please share something that stood out on your wedding day?
My vendors were AMAZING! Getting married in Texas with all of our family and friends spread out throughout the United States made it really complicated with planning. I knew no one, had no help and was really on my own with planning. I relied on my vendors so much for help and advice with wedding planning and they have become such great friends to us. My make up artist is also our realtor and just helped us buy a house!
What was your inspiration for your wedding day and dress?
“Texas Best” We wanted it to be causal but elegant. I loved all of the natural greenery of our venue and we knew we could keep it simple without having to do so much for decor, extras, etc.
Any advice to future brides?
Make sure you stay true to what you and your fiancé want. There were many times throughout the wedding planning process that I felt like we weren’t doing enough. I didn’t have enough activities for people, we didnt have enough of a selection for food, we didnt do a signature cocktail, etc. Immediately I started to compare what is on pinterest and what I was seeing in bridal groups and felt like we needed to compete with that and that added so much pressure. We had to make sure to stay true to us. We like simple and all of the extra wasn’t us.
