How we met: We both played on the worship team at church and got talking in between services. I got his number and started pursuing him first!
The proposal: We got engaged 3 years later while at college at William Jessup University. I got a call from my sister telling me her car broke down and I needed to come help her. My friend has jumper cables so we drove to a park in Lincoln. As soon as we got there, I knew what was coming! There was a letter on my sister’s car telling me to walk down the park path. It felt like such a long walk with so many letters along the way! I finally found Quentin under a willow tree playing guitar. He rewrote the words to one of our favorite songs to fit our story (this song was also our first dance song). When he got down on one knee, I heard cheering and saw all my family and friends there. It was so sweet!
What was the most important thing for you about finding the perfect dress?
Most important thing about finding a dream dress was making sure I looked like a princess. Ever since I was a little girl, I always dreamed of wearing a dress like Cinderella on my wedding day! I also wanted to make sure I felt comfortable.
What was the best personal moments of your wedding day?
The best moment of the wedding was with my dad before walking down the aisle. We were downstairs waiting for our cue to walk up. As everyone started walking ahead of us, our eyes both started swelling with tears. It was a very special moment.
Another great moment was the speeches. I’ve always thought the speeches at weddings are cheesy or cringy, but it actually ended up being one of my favorite parts of the wedding.
Please share something that stood out on your wedding day?
‘Something that stood out on my wedding day was how important it is to be surrounded by people who help you relax and enjoy the day. Kayla from AsthonImagery was so great at this. No matter what was going on, she reminded me I looked beautiful and kept things running smoothly.
What was your inspiration for your wedding day and dress?
My inspiration for my wedding day look came from pinterest. I spent a lot of time looking for the perfect dress, makeup, and hairstyle. Regardless of the time spent, I ended up choosing a dress I had never really considered (so my advice, stay open-minded!). I had my mind set on a strapless dress, but my stylist at A&E recommended I try on one more dress since I didn’t seem to be in love with any dresses I had previously tried on. As soon as I tried on the dress she recommended, both me and my bridesmaids knew it was the one!
Any advice to future brides?
Future advice: Stay open-minded and enjoy your day. It’s easy to get bogged down on the details, but find a good team to surround you on your big day and trust that they will do an amazing job! And when things go wrong – laugh! One of the groomsmen ended up with two left shoes, and it ended up being a great memory.
