Brett and I met about 8 years ago through my older sister, Brittany. He was planning on going abroad to study in Spain for a few months, and I have always been so attracted to his eagerness to travel and be independent. We were in contact while he was on his trip and made our relationship official when he returned. Throughout the following 6 years we fell more and more in love, and although there were tough times it brought us closer together. In August of 2017, we traveled to Peru to go see Machu Picchu and to my surprise, he got down on one knee and popped the question! It was an unforgettable trip.

What was the most important thing for you about finding the perfect dress?

It had to have lace on it, I wanted it within my budget, and I knew I wanted sleeves. A|E Bridal was able to give me all three without a hitch!

What was the best personal moments of your wedding day?

There were a few moments that stick out when I think back to our big day. The first was when my dad saw me for the first time in my dress. I’ve always been so close to him and it was a very memorable experience for us both. The second was when my mom did all of the buttons on the back of my dress. She started from the bottom and by the time she got to the top she realized she missed one in the middle- we laughed so hard! The third was when I saw Brett at the alter. It took my breath away. He looked so handsome and had a huge smile on his face. One more thing- the mother and son dance was amazing! Check it out on Stephanie’s instagram (:

Please share something that stood out on your wedding day?

Having all of our closest friends and family in one space at the same time was such an electrifying feeling. I knew it would be special, but you could really feel all the love and happiness from everyone! I also wanted to give a shoutout to our wedding party- they all made our job easier. My bridesmaids and maid of honor went above and beyond to make me feel special and taken care of.

What was your inspiration for your wedding day and dress?

I really wanted the day and dress to reflect Brett and my personalities which are simplistic, but fun and adventurous. I loved all of the lace throughout the bodice and sleeves, but still elegant and simple on the bottom. It was a perfect balance. That was also reflected in our venue. We had it outdoors, surrounded by gorgeous trees that were changing to fall colors. It was laid back, but with elegance.

Any advice to future brides?

Make the day how you and your partner want it to be. Don’t let other make all of the decisions. Don’t get caught up in the little details because people tend to remember the moments rather than the type of silverware you used or the type of card stock on your name cards. Focus on the memories you want to make!
