The “Love” Story…

Tim and I met for the first time in July of 2014, shortly after he graduated high school, and right before he was about to start his freshman year at Chico State. What’s crazy is we lived only 15 miles away from each other our whole lives, had mutual friends, attended rival high schools, both had families in the farming community, and had never even met before. On a summer night, we just so happened to be attending the same Miranda Lambert concert where we crossed paths. A few weeks into the school semester, Tim reached out to me through social media and we exchanged phone numbers. His pick up line, though cheesy, actually worked: “We should go to lunch sometime, because I hardly know anyone at Chico State.” Within a few short weeks, we went out on our first date. After only a couple hours of paddle boarding at Black Butte Lake together, we realized how much we had in common, how much we liked each other, and have been inseparable ever since! On March 12, 2017, Tim and I went for a drive after church up to Plaskett Meadows where he got down on one knee, overlooking the valley, and he asked me to marry him! We got married on May 26, 2018 at his grandparent’s ranch in Orland, California and are so excited to begin our lives together as Mr. and Mrs. Bekendam!

What was the most important thing for you about finding the perfect dress?

The most important thing to me about finding the perfect dress was that it represented my style and personality effortlessly. I wanted everyone who saw it to say “that dress is so you.”

What was the best personal moments of your wedding day?

Seeing my dad get emotional when he saw me for the first time in my wedding dress as I was about to walk down the aisle had to be one of the best moments of my wedding day. Thanks Always Elegant Bridal!

Please share something that stood out on your wedding day?

The night before our wedding, it rained all day. Everyone was standing in the barn at our rehearsal trying not to get soaking wet. The day of our wedding, the sun came out and it was absolutely perfect; not too hot, not too cold. Then, the day after our wedding ended up being over 90 degrees! I knew we had a lot of people praying for good weather, and it was so special that all of our prayers were answered.

What was your inspiration for your wedding day and dress?

We wanted our wedding day to be Christ-centered and full of love and joy. The inspiration that I had for my wedding dress was for it to be romantic, timeless, and classic.

Any advise to future brides?

Invest in a good wedding day coordinator. They will make the day of your wedding go so much smoother and help take away any stress so you and your family members can enjoy your special day. It is so worth it!
