“Seeing my husband during the first look. We have a child, we’ve lived together for years, and we thus spend most of our time doing non-romantic, non-glamorous things. But when we saw each other during the first look, it felt like it did when we first met…”
“We have a small dog who is very much a part of the family, but we decided not to include him in the wedding. However, when the day came, my husband and I were both so distracted that neither of us remembered to put him in the house. So when we started walking down the aisle, there was our dog trotting along right behind us, unplanned. Everyone at the ceremony got a good laugh and the pictures are adorable. In sum, things might not go as you planned–they might go even better.”
What was the most important thing for you about finding the perfect dress?
I went into the appointment with a very specific idea about what my dress should look like and had already ruled out many options. When the dresses I had selected weren’t working, I started to become discouraged. Fortunately, Bree encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and try on something different. I found that the most important thing was how I felt in the dress, not that it perfectly reflected the look I thought I should emulate. It wasn’t until I kept an open mind that I found the perfect dress for me.

Any advice to future brides?
Good alterations make all the difference! Two inches of hemming made walking in my gown go from a challenge to a breeze. Also, make sure you feel good in what you’re wearing. I wore huge false eyelashes during the ceremony and they drove me crazy – it was completely distracting and I slipped into the bathroom to take them off immediately after. Fortunately, my dress made me feel both comfortable and beautiful all night long so I could spend the rest of the evening focusing on the important part: celebrating with my new husband.
