Sara and Jacob met in January 2016 when Sara knocked on his apartment door. At the time, Sara was attending a ministry school in Redding, CA and was a part of a team that led students out into the community to go be with people who don’t usually have anyone to be with and to love people who ofteny get forgotten or shied away from.
Because of the condition of the apartment building, she didn’t expect to find two really nice guys behind the door. Jacob was on the couch playing Call of Duty when his roommate opened the door. They invited Sara and her friend inside and they talked for a bit. Before they left, Jacob went to his room and shook up some “Hot Hands” hand warmers for her to take before going back out into the cold. That was the cutest and funniest gesture she thought to herself. Jacob made her blush, and he had a bold and cute sense of humor that Sara was instantly drawn too.
That evening Sara got a Facebook message from Jacob who had searched her name saying if she wasn’t seeing anybody, he would love to take her out to dinner. So they went out and she had so much fun just having dinner and talking for hours with this Jacob. Their second date was incredibly eventful as well. At the end of their time together they were playing basketball. Sara tends to be a little competitive, and drove her face right into his elbow, stress fracturing her nose! Their third date happened the next day when Jacob met her in the emergency room because of her damaged nose. But it ended well when Jacob took Sara to a sports bar to get some food and watch the football game. It’s all a messy and magical history from there. Jacob was a gift waiting behind door #3 and Sara felt like she was led right to him. “Sometimes you just gotta go knocking on doors and you will find hidden treasures”!
What was the most important thing for you about finding the perfect dress?
I wanted to find a dress that made me feel most like who I feel I am in my heart and have it be a physical and beautiful presentation/representation of who I am.
What was the best personal moments of your wedding day?
Being surrounded by people who love and adore me, who support my marriage and who I could share the significance of this choice with. My favorite moment was reading my vows to my husband and hearing him read his to me – that’s what we showed up to really do that day.

Beauty. Beauty is not just visual, it’s tangible in the atmosphere and in the way we feel about ourselves and others. True beauty brings clarity changes the way we see life. It is giving and truly empowering. That is what I felt and experienced that made the day so incredibly perfect.
What was your inspiration for your wedding day and dress?
I wanted to feel like no other bride that day, I wanted to stand out and shine in a way that would touch people’s hearts and spark people’s imaginations.
Any advice to future brides?
Your wedding day is a beautiful and creative representation of who you are, your values, and a declaration of your future, so let it be you, and declare life and beauty over your covenant with every choice you makes. Don’t do anything for tradition sake – ask your heart what it really wants to experience and create your own celebration of your love.
