What was the most important thing for you about finding the perfect dress?

I think every bride wants to find a dress that feels unique to them. I didn’t have anything specific in mind but I knew I wanted one that was comfortable- I knew it was going to be a long and exhausting day so comfort was my top priority. That being said, I fell in love with a dress that had beautiful lace material and was very form fitting. Not the most comfortable thing I’ve ever worn, but I felt beautiful in it.

What was the best personal moments of your wedding day?

My sister had spent a few weeks before the wedding collecting “Letters to the Bride” from my closest friends and family and she gave me a book of all the letters and photos the morning of the wedding. It was so sweet and very special to read them all before we started getting ready.

Please share something that stood out on your wedding day?

We had a dance for the married couples where the last couple dancing has been married the longest. My grandparents on my mom’s side were the last couple dancing- they’ll have been married for 61 years this June. It was a very special moment to share with them and I hope our marriage will emulate theirs.

What was your inspiration for your wedding day and dress?

I really wanted to get married outside and at my parent’s place in the Sutter Buttes. It was challenging because we weren’t sure what the weather was going to be like in March and had been glued to the weather apps the weeks prior when it looked like it might pour. We got lucky and had a beautiful, sunny day. The Sutter Buttes are so beautiful as is and we really wanted our wedding to take advantage of that and keep the other frills minimal.

Any advise to future brides?

Don’t stress the small stuff! If it’s not important to you, feel free to delegate it and stop worrying about it. It’s so easy to get caught up in the countless little details of the day and it can be distracting. Remember what’s important to you and focus on that list. Additionally, don’t be afraid to make the day yours. There were some traditions that we held onto because our families wanted them. But it felt nice to ditch some other aspects that felt weren’t us like a formal exit after the wedding.
